Sneakers4good x AOA Collab
Chance Meeting Forms A Lifelong Partnership
During the final hour of one of my retail clothing shifts, Wayne Elsey walked into the store. After a brief conversation and some browsing for fresh clothing, I had little idea that our next discussion was about to accelerate my creative journey. Archives Of Andersen existed as a concept long before it was given an official name. At 16 years old, my first steps into the fashion industry were centered around recycling older clothing into newer, “cooler” garments. So when Wayne Elsey asked if he could donate some gently worn shoes from his Sneakers4good company to me and my brand, with the intention of giving them a second life, I of course said yes!
When I asked him what he wanted me to make, his famous response: “Make something cool…” completely changed my life.
That kind of creative freedom is like adding jet fuel to an already burning ambition. About three weeks later, a box containing 22 single sports shoes arrived at my apartment. To some, that box contained nothing more than landfill. To me, it was the greatest opportunity I could have ever hoped for, sitting right on my doorstep.

From that first box of shoes I created an upcycled shoulder bag that has since traveled with Wayne to multiple upcycling conferences, been featured in the preface of The Reuse Economy book, and became a cornerstone of what Archives Of Andersen represents within the modern fashion industry. Thank you Wayne for inspiring me to break free from fast fashion!
